Ceremonial opening of the NOMUS festival

The official opening of the NOMUS festival, which this year will be held on October 18 starting at 8:00 p.m., was marked by the performance of one of today’s leading opera singers and most respected baritones – Željko Lučić, led by maestro Gabriel Bebešelja and accompanied by the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra.
Željko Lučić sang at New York’s Metropolitan, where after his debut in 2006 he performed over 15 roles, including the title roles in the operas Rigoletto, Nabucco and Macbeth. The list of the most prestigious opera houses in which he performed includes Milan’s Teatro “Scala”, the Vienna Opera and the Royal Opera in London, as well as the Bavarian State Opera, the Paris Opera, the German Opera in Berlin, Covent Garden, the Dutch Opera, the Theater in Florence and many others.
One of the most respected singers of today is also known in the world as a “Verdi” baritone because the leading roles in Verdi’s operas brought him the pinnacle of fame.
He also performed leading roles in the operas of Gianni Scicchi, La Traviata, Troubadour, Don Carlos Pajaci, Othello, Macbeth, Eugene Onegin and many others.
Željko Lučić was a member of the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad from 1993 to 1998, and then lived abroad for more than two and a half decades, mostly in Frankfurt, where he was a member of the Frankfurt Opera from 1998 to 2008. .
Today he lives again in Serbia.
In 2023, he was awarded the Gold Medal for services to the Republic of Serbia.
In January of this year, he was appointed as the new artistic director of the National Theater Opera in Belgrade.
